Associate of University Studies (60 Cr.)

The Associate of University Studies consists of 29-30 hours of general education courses, at least 15 credits but no more than 21 credits in one major area*, and additional elective courses outside of the identified major area* of interest. Students receiving the Associate of University Studies degree must complete at least 60 credits.

General Education

General Education Requirements 29-31 Cr.

Concentration Area Requirements 15-21 Cr.

Students must take at least 15 credits but no more than 21 total credits in one major area that are in addition to those credits which have been used to meet the General Education Requirements for the Associate of University Studies degree. Concentrations may include core courses in a defined area that mirror Valpo’s bachelor’s degrees in those areas. Courses housed in the colleges of business, engineering, or nursing and health professions may be used for the concentration and exploratory areas.

Additional Exploratory Courses 7-16 Cr.

In addition to taking courses that fulfill the general education and concentration area requirements, students should select courses in additional areas of interest to fulfill the exploratory course requirement. Thus, courses used to fulfill general education requirements may not also count for credit in the exploratory area. And courses in the exploratory area must not come from the concentration area. The exploratory courses should be used to help students explore additional areas of interest outside their area of concentration.
