Organizational Leadership Certificate

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Academic Programs

The Valparaiso University Organizational Leadership graduate certificate is housed within the Organizational Leadership graduate program in the College of Arts & Sciences. This certificate provides students with a foundation in Leadership Theory & Practice and allows students to select approved courses from the Leadership degree based on their own values, individualized context, and specific needs.

This graduate certificate is a versatile, interdisciplinary program which matches Valpo’s educational mission to prepare students to lead in both church and society. Students in the Organizational Leadership graduate certificate will grow their potential, and stand out as successful leaders and followers in all areas of their personal and professional lives.

This fully online graduate certificate offers courses asynchronously. The certificate includes seven-week courses throughout the year (Fall I & II, Spring I & II, Summer I & II). Students can complete the program in as little as two seven-week semesters by taking two courses per seven-week session. Students may also choose to take fewer courses per seven-week semester, if needed. This will lead to a longer time spent in the certificate before completion, but does allow students to complete the certificate in a time that best suits their needs.

The graduate certificate in Organizational Leadership requires a total of 12 credit hours. Students are required to enroll in LEAD 500 - Leadership Theory & Practice  in their first semester, and will then choose from an approved list of LEAD graduate courses to complete the remaining 9 required credit hours.
