Majors in Religious Studies

The department provides a program of study and companioning advisors for students who wish to prepare for personal enrichment in conjunction with other programs, for immediate careers, and for training beyond the B.A.  The combination of coursework and opportunities for practical experience allows our graduates to enter positions in religious organizations and non-profits and teach in private and parochial schools.  The major also prepares students for graduate programs in the academy (Religious Studies, Theology, and related fields) and through professional programs (teaching, counseling, chaplaincy and seminary). The program emphasizes engagement across religious traditions and comparative inquiry into ways of life and ways of knowing.

Religious Studies students benefit from a departmental student club. They participate in campus programs and organizations such as the Institute of Leadership and Service, Chapel Ministries and the Symposium for Christian Formation and Leadership. Our majors are regularly chosen for internships through the CAPS Fellows Program.
