THEO 327 - Christians in Nazi Germany Credits: 3 This course examines the actions of Christians in Germany during the time of National Socialism (1933-1945). The course analyzes the historical context of the German churches, World War I and Germany’s experience of defeat, the social and political conditions during the Weimar Republic and Nazi dictatorship, the German-Christian movement, the Confessing-Church movement, the relationship between the churches and the Nazi state, the role of anti-Semitism in German society, and the Holocaust. Significant attention will be given to several representative German-Protestant theologians and their actions and writings.
