ENGL 568 - TESOL Theory and Methods I

A study of the theoretical and historical background of second language teaching as well as theories of second language acquisition, with special attention to different cultural backgrounds. Topics include practical applications of theories through methods of teaching speaking, listening, writing, and grammar. The course will employ readings, activities, and class discussions among students from various linguistic and cultural traditions. Students will observe an ESL class as well as develop and teach an English language lesson.
