AE 673 - Sports and the Law

This course will survey the major legal issues involved in both amateur and professional sports in the United States. Under the heading of amateur sports, the course will look at the powers of the NCAA, the rights created by athletic scholarships, and gender equity. Under the heading of professional sports, the course will look at league decision-making power, antitrust exemptions, collective bargaining and salary arbitration. Finally, the course will examine the growing area of drug-testing issues. No more than 6 credits may be taken from AE 670 -675.

Prerequisite(s): ICP 670 .
