NS 106 - The Science of Sustainability and Environmental Justice Credits: 4 Credit Configuration: 3+2, 4 Cr.
The science associated with society’s major barriers to sustainability and environmental justice, such as energy extraction, air and water pollutants, modern agriculture practices, unmanageable waste production and climate change, is presented in context with societal factors to assess modern humanity’s roles and responsibilities. The course, intended for non-science majors, will include studies of environmental injustice (past and current), their links to racial injustice, and the history and ongoing struggles for equality, along with efforts that have led to progress. Graded A-F
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in MATH 110 or MATH 125 , or placement higher than MATH 110 on the math placement process. General Education: Partial fulfillment of the General Education Requirements in Natural Science.
