CS 330 - Operating Systems Credits: 3 Credit Configuration: 3+1, 3 Cr.
An introduction to the concepts of modern operating systems. Topics include processes, process API, system calls, scheduling, synchronization, address space memory, management (translation, segmentation, paging, swap), threads, locks, semaphores, concurrency, file systems (I/O and disk drives, RAID, FSCK, SSD, NFS), and security. Lab topics include common operating system utilities, shell and commands, programming with system calls, as well as simulations.
Prerequisite(s) or Corequisite(s): CS 240 or CS 245 .
