Spanish for Professionals Certificate

Objective
This certificate program is designed to provide students in professional programs with the needed knowledge to be able to communicate in Spanish at a professional level with people who are from Spanish-speaking backgrounds. This certificate is intended for, but not limited to, students in programs leading to professions for which speaking effectively in Spanish will be required, such as: business, engineering, health professions, social work, or sociology, among others. The certificate does not constitute official certification for Healthcare Interpreters or other professional fields, but it provides a solid foundation for students wishing to pursue this certification in the future.

Certificate Requirements (Minimum 14 Cr.)
Students start at the level indicated by the Language Placement Exam. Students are required to complete SPAN 210 before progressing on to the courses listed below. Students who do not place into SPAN 210 would also have to earn credit for the prerequisites for this course (typically SPAN 203 and SPAN 204 ). Studies in Culture and Society
