Wetlands and wetland science are an important part of environmental studies and management which require specialized education and experience. Valparaiso University is situated in an environment with multiple types of wetlands, both those that have been well-managed and those that have been mismanaged. This interdisciplinary minor provides a unique opportunity to leverage existing curriculum and geographic location and to develop a specialization in wetlands.

Minor Requirements (Minimum 15 Cr.)

GEO 264 - Soils and the Environment Credits: 3
BIO 350 - Field Biology: Spring Credits: 3 *
GEO 364 - Wetlands Credits: 3

Elective Courses (6-8 Cr.)

Choose two courses from different departments from the following:

GEO 266 - River Systems and Landforms Credits: 3
CHEM 341 - Environmental Chemistry Credits: 3 *
BIO 345 - Intermediate Microbiology Credits: 4
BIO 430 - Plant Biology Credits: 4 *
BIO 440 - Ecology Credits: 4
