Four credits from PHYS/ASTR at the 200-level or higher: 4 Cr. *

* Only one credit from PHYS 492 /ASTR 492 can be used toward the elective requirement.
Note: to become a high school teacher, a student must obtain licensure through a teacher training program after graduating.
A physics complementary major is an option for a student with a primary major in another field who wishes to also major in physics.

Note:
Typical course load per semester is 14 - 18. Need 15.5 per semester on average to achieve the 124 credit minimum for graduation.
This sequence is for students interested in teaching in high school. Students will need to complete a teacher training program post-graduation to earn licensur
We recommend obtaining a Education Minor (18 credits) which can shorten the teacher training program considerably through transfer credits.

One additional PHYS or ASTR course at 200+ (3 credits) also needs to be taken Juinior or Senior year.
Other physics courses can also be taken. Consult with your advisor.
ASTR 101 and ASTR 101L can be taken other semesters. Make a plan with your advisor.
For those who want to study abroad, fall of junior or senior year is the best option (choosing the ASTR 221 /ASTR 252 sequence).
