THEO 326 - Luther and Bach Credits: 3 This course introduces students to the life and works of Martin Luther (1483-1546) and Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), two of the most influential figures in Western history and culture. Primary attention will be given to their theological ideas and choral musical works, although students will also gain an understanding of their cultural and historical contexts and the ways in which their ideas and music are of abiding significance. Students will examine and discuss some key texts and representative choral works.
