SOCW 210 - Social Welfare Policy: History & Program Credits: 3 An overview of the history of social welfare programs in the United States, and the economic, social, and political forces that shape the structure of the American welfare system. Policy issues, including health and mental health services, anti-poverty programs, corrections, housing, employment, children’s issues, immigration, and human rights, are examined with emphasis on how these policies impact populations at risk.
General Education: May partially fulfill the Social Sciences component of the General Education requirements. Some sections may fulfill the Writing Intensive Course (WIC) General Education requirement.
