ENGL 343 - Introduction to Linguistics Credits: 3 An introduction to the theory and methodology of linguistics. The course includes descriptive and historical linguistics, basic notions of grammatical theory, and exploration of some of the relations of linguistics to other branches of knowledge. The presentation of general principles is supplemented by practical problems in linguistic analysis.
Prerequisite(s): ENGL 180 or junior standing.
